Bible Boot Camp - Armor of God

Vacation Bible School - 2010

The First Baptist Church of Bath held its fourth annual Vacation Bible

 School program for the local children. Forty children, a dog named Ralph, a

snail, and two frogs (brought in by little 4 year old girls) participated and about

a dozen adults volunteered to help. The organizing committee prayed hard

that God's will would be done and that the volunteers would be used by

God to advance the Good News of Jesus. We believe our prayers were answered.

The Armor of God verses found in Ephesians provided excellent curriculum for

the children and they learned about the belt of truth, the shield of faith, the

breastplate of righteousness, the sword of the spirit, and the helmet of salvation.

Each of the children were given their own Bible to keep and they were given Bible

story books to keep, as well, along with memory verses. The children learned new

gospel songs which they are still singing. There was an obstacle course built in the

park across the street for the children to go through and they had to say their

memory verse or lose precious seconds on the time clock. They are so proud that they

still remember John 3:16.

Fun was not the goal, but it was present in all we did. Learning is fun and especially

when we learn more about Jesus.

 10Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

 11Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

 12For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

 13Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

 14Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

 15And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

 16Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

 17And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

 18Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

Ephesians 6:10-18 (KJV)
